Large fire breaks out at Castleford primary school

Forty Firefighters are tackling a large fire at a primary school in West Yorkshire.

Crews were called to Airedale Junior School, on Fryston Road, Castleford, at about 19:15 BST.

The blaze, in the roof of the building, covers a 20m by 40m (66ft by 131ft) area, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

According to the school’s website, the roof was in the process of having repair work carried out.

The school tweeted: “Airedale junior school will be closed until further notice due to fire. We will keep you informed.”
